Auto Car Insurance For Young Drivers
If you are under 25 then you are classed as a young driver in terms of car insurance. Unfortunately this means paying higher premiums. This is down to the fact that statistically young drivers have more accidents and make more claims associated with vandalism and theft than other drivers.

After the first few years, providing a clean driving record has been maintained and no claims have been made, premiums typically reduce.

For any policy, one factor influencing the cost to insure a car is the vehicle’s insurance group rating. Different makes and models are grouped into categories depending on the risk factor in underwriting the vehcicle. The higher the category, the higher the premium.

Young drivers facing costly insurance premiums can avoid extra expense by buying a car with a lower insurance group rating. Generally these tend to be cars which have smaller engines. Sports cars and modified cars are best avoided as these are more costly for anyone to insure, let alone an under 25.

Alternatively, a young driver can be included on his or her parent’s car insurance policy as a named driver. This option costs a fraction of that associated with a young driver insuring a car in their own name and is popular with under 25’s who have just obtained their licence and have not yet purchased a car.
